Verse 1

(Garbi-1) Ād gur Shams munivar jāṇ, Te to phariyā bahu jug parmāṇ

English meaning: O believers! Pir Shams is the eternal guide, who has traveled to many regions.

Verse 2

Te to gayā phartā Analvaḍ māṅhe, Tiyāṅ hindu rahe chhe ati ja āheṅ

English meaning: Whilst travelling he went to Analva ḍ(Anhilvāḍā), where many Hindus resided.

Verse 3

Tenā deval derā ati ja ghaṇā, Te to mātā bhavānine māne tatkhaṇā

English meaning: They had many monasteries and temples; at that time they used to believe in MātāBhavāni.

Verse 4

Te to garbi ramtā nortāṅ māṅhe, Gur Shams gayā chhe tiyāṅe

English meaning: They were playing Garbi during Navr ātri (nine nights); Pir Shams (r.a.) went there.

Verse 5

Tiyāṅ āsu sud ekamni rāt, Te garbi peli rame sahu sāth

English meaning: It was the first ni ght of the month of Āsuj, they were all jointly playing the first Garbi.

Verse 6

Tiyāṅchhatris pinḍhat to kathā kare, Pāṅchso ramatiyā rame chhe khare

English meaning: There thirty-six pandits were narrating legends (or preaching sermons); five hundred players were playing.

Verse 7

Gurji ubhā jāi teṇe ṭhām, Suṇiyā vachan hindunā tamām

English meaning: The Pir went and stood at that place and heard all the words of the Hindus.

Verse 8

Te to nāche ati bahu gāve gīt, Pathar sāthe teni bahu prīt

English meaning: They were dancing and singing very much. They strongly loved the stone (or idol).

Verse 9

Tāre gur Shamsne krodh ja thayā, Te to nāchaṇhārā māṅhe jai nāchiya

English meaning: Then Pir Shams (r.a.) became very angry. He joined the dancers and began to dance.

Verse 10

Tāre git gāyā gurji ginān, Te suṇvā lāgā hindu ajāṇ

English meaning: At that time the Pir sang the verses of the ginan, to which the ignorant Hindus began to listen.
