Verse 1

bāpā vātū kene nahīṅ detā Bāi Buḍhāi (Selected Verses) Jīre bhāi bāpā vātū kene nahīṅ detā, Amne tame dayā kīdhī jīre bhāi

English meaning: O brother! Our father did not disclose such matters to anyone. You have shown mercy upon me.

Verse 2

Jīre bhāi dayā karī tāre bhāv ja rākho, Ākhar to hae marṇā jīre bhāi

English meaning: O brother! Now that you have shown mercy then have love also; eventually (we) have to die.

Verse 3

Jīre bhāi mūvā pachhī bī hisāb ja deṇā, So din sāchā darbār jīre bhāi

English meaning: O brother! We are accounta ble after death also. That will be the day of real court.

Jīre bhāi mantar ek shabad ja kahīye, Temā avichal rāj ja kahīye jīre bhāi

English meaning: O brother! Mantra (remembrance) is such a word which contains immortal reign.

Jīre bhāi imān vachan ek til pichhāṇo, Vichhūṅ kā mantar ketā kahīye jīre bhāi

English meaning: O brother! Faith is a small word. What is the mantra for a scorpion’s (bite?)

Jīre bhāi ab tum gur tum bhāi hamāre, Aesī Bāi Buḍhāi kī ardās jīre bhāi

English meaning: O brother! You are now my teacher and my brother; thus entreats Bai Budhai.
