Verse 1

Ejī Bindrāre vanmā sukh chare re gāvantrī, Charante charante siṅhle vash paḍyā

English meaning: In Bindrāvan (Vrindāvan) a cow grazed peacefully. While grazing she fell in the clutches of a lion.

Verse 2

Eji raho raho siṅhlā tum mat nākho hāth, Hūṅ to vāchhḍe kerī chusṇījī

English meaning: (She said): Stop, stop, o lion! Do not lay hand on me; I am suckling my calf.

Verse 3

Khamo khamo siṅhlā tame dhām karī beso, Vachan ālīne gavrl chāliyā

English meaning: Wait, wait o loin, have pa tience and be at ease. Giving her promise (to return) the cow went off.

Verse 4

Pahele hinchole gavrī sīm sheḍhe āvī, Bīje hinchole gavrī vāḍīe

English meaning: With her first leap the cow came to the edge of the field; with her second leap the cow reached the garden.

Verse 5

Trīje hinchole gavrī jhāṅple āvī, Chothe hinchole gavrī koḍhmā

English meaning: With her third leap the cow reached the gate; with her fourth leap she reached the stable.

Verse 6

Uṭho uṭho vāchhḍā tum dūdh merā pīyo, Me vāchākī bāndhī āī

English meaning: Get up, get up, o calf, drink my milk. I have come bound by a promise.

Verse 7

Vāchākī bāndhī mātā dūdh nahīṅ pīyūṅ, Me chalūṅ tumāre sāth

English meaning: O promise bound mother; I shall not drink (your) milk. I shall go with you.

Verse 8

Āge āge vāchhḍā ne pīchhe gāvantrī, Bhāī siṅhle gher sadhāriyā

English meaning: With the calf leading the way and the cow following behind, they set off for the home of the lion.

Verse 9

Ek kū bulāyā to do chalkar āyā, Bhāī siṅhle gher vadhāmṇā

English meaning: One was called and two came along. O brother! There was rejoicing in the lion's abode.

Verse 10

Uṭho uṭho siṅhlājī māṅs merā bharkho, Pichhe bharkho morī māi

English meaning: (The calf said): O lion! Get up, get up, eat my flesh, then eat my mother.

Verse 11

Eṭlī re sudh budh koṇe tamne dīdhī, Keṇe te tamne bodhiyā

English meaning: (The lion said): Who has given you such awareness and understanding? Who has instructed you?

Verse 12

Eṭlī re sudh budh chande sūraje dīdhī, Pīr Sadardīne bodhīyā

English meaning: (They said): The moon and the sun have given (us) such awareness and understanding. Pir Sadardin (r.a) has instructed us.

Verse 13

Ejī jāo jāo gāvantrī tum merī bahenā, Vachhḍā merāre bhāṇejḍā

English meaning: (The Lion said): Go, go, o cow, you are my sister the calf is my nephew.

Verse 14

Jāo jāo gāvantrī ḍungarne kore more, Khaḍ re khāo pāṇī mokḷā

English meaning: Go, go, o cow, to the foot of the hills; eat grass and drink as much as you wish.

Verse 15

Bhaṇe Pīr Sadardīn tum suṇo moman bhāī, Āpṇosatpanth sudho karī jāṇo

English meaning: Pir Sadardin (r.a) says: Listen o Momin brother! Know our Satpanth (True Path)properly.
