Verse 1

E virā mārā dhan putra māyāsarve kārmi kahie, Āve hukam sarve meline jaie

English meaning: O my brother! Wealth, son, the love of the world are all terrifying things. When the command comes one will have to go leaving everything behind.

Verse 2

E virā mārā koi na kahe ājiv māro māro, Kāḍho kāḍho lai chakle utāro

English meaning: O my brother! No one will claim that this man is mine. Take him! Take him away to the courtyard.

Verse 3

E virā mārā lok kuṭumb sarve miliyo sansār, Kāvaḍ upāḍi lai gayāmasāṇminjār

English meaning: O my brother! Family members, relatives, the whole world gathered; (they) carried the corpse and took it to the graveyard.

Verse 4

E virā mārā ekne bāḷe ne ekne daṭe, Bhāngo sambandh koi na āve jivḍāni sāthe

English meaning: O my brother! One is burnt and one is buried. The relationship is broken; no one goes with the man.

Verse 5

E virā mārā sukrit pun jo kije hāth, To antkāḷe āve jivḍāni sāth

English meaning: O my brother! If you perform good deeds with your own hands then at the last moment they will accompany the soul.

Verse 6

E virā mārā satgur srevo to bahu phal laie, Imān salāmat shāhjisūṅ milie

English meaning: O my brother! Obey the true spiritual guide, you will be much rewarded. (Your) faith will remain firm and (you) will meet the Lord.

Verse 7

E virā mārā shahjine maliyānu e chhe endhāṇ, Girbhāvāsni vāchā pāḷo to chhuṭo chārei khāṇ

English meaning: O my brother! This is the sign of meeting the Lord. Fulfill the promise made in the mother’s womb then (you) will be saved from the four stages of creation.

Verse 8

E virā mārā girbhāvāsni vāchājo tame pāḷo, To lobh savārath hiras ja vāro

English meaning: O my brother! If you wish to fulfill the promise made in the mother’s womb then shun covetousness, selfishness and greed.

Verse 9

E virā mārā kāḷ krodh ahūṅkār na kije, Manmāṅhe larjine jugatsūṅlije

English meaning: O my brother! Do not indulge in anger, rage and pride. Fear in the heart and obtain methodically.

Verse 10

E virā mārā karamnā kāgaḷjai gatmāṅhe kholo, Sāheb āgaḷ sāchū ja bolo

English meaning: O my brother! Go to the jamat and open your record of deeds; speak the truth in front of the Lord.

Verse 11

E virā mārā gurgatmājai karāvo duā, To pātak hare nirmal thāeshe jivnā vadhāvā

English meaning: O my brother! Go to the jamat of the true guide and perform Du`a; your sins will be removed, you will be purified and the soul will be happy.

Verse 12

E virā mārā dān pun supātre dije, To vaikunṭh phal potānu lije

English meaning: O my brother! Be charitable to the deserving; you will obtain your reward of paradise.

Verse 13

E virā mārā ālo bhanḍār akhuṭja thāe, Ekoter puriyā beṭha niyāmat khāe

English meaning: O my brother! If you share then your treasure will never exhaust. Your Seventy-one generations will effortlessly partake of this blessing.

Verse 14

E virā mārā s atpanth maliyā to sācha chālo, Sat vināchāle te sarve juṭhākari jāṇo

English meaning: O my brother! When you have found the Satpanth then live truthfully. Those who will act without truth they are all liars (or false).

Verse 15

E virā mārā jo dam bolo sohire likhāve, Sāch juṭhnā niveḍāthāe

English meaning: O my brother! What is spoken at each breath is recorded; truth and falsehood will be decided.

Verse 16

E virā mārā sāch bolo sate chālo, Sat lai amrāpuri mālo

English meaning: O my brother! Speak the truth and act truthfully. Carry the truth and enjoy the blessings of the eternal abode.

Verse 17

E virā mārāveḷāparmāṇe vichārine chālo, To jivḍāni dasond shāhjine ālo

English meaning: O my brother! Contemplate according to the time and act; offer the Dasond of the soul in the presence of the Lord.

Verse 18

E virā mārāpeṭ puraṇbhari na kije āhār, Alap āhār kari nindrāne vār

English meaning: O my brother! Do not eat stomach-full; eat little and obtain control over sleep.

Verse 19

E virā mārā jiv chhoḍāvā to dehimāṅhe jāgo, Pāṅch padārath pahelā māngo

English meaning: O my brother! If you want the salvation of the soul then exercise vigilance in your being. Firstly solicitate the five best qualities.

Verse 20

E virā mārāsat sabūri khamiyā māngo, Imān salāmat zikare jāgo

English meaning: O my brother! Ask for truth, patience and forgiveness. Ask for firmness of belief and stay awake in remembrance.

Verse 21

E virā mārāaraj karo tame maher ja māngo, Zikar fikar reṇimāṅhe jāg o

English meaning: O my brother! Entreat and ask for mercy; stay awake at night in remembrance and contemplation.

Verse 22

E virā mārāveḷāparmāṇe dar chhe moṭo, Bhaṇe Sayyad Imām Shāh mat chālo khoṭo

English meaning: O my brother! According to the times the reward is big.
