Verse 1
Ejī elam Allāhjie bhejiyā, Tame moman karjo vichār; Pīr Shams kahe tame sāmbḷo, Kāṅe bhūlo te vārovār
English meaning: O brother! Allah has se nt the knowledge. O Momin! Contemplate. Pir Shams (r.a.) says: listen! Why do you forget repeatedly?
Verse 2
Eji ginān bhaṇe suṇe ne pāre nahīṅ, Te mūrakh na būje abūj; Tenā pāp pelā bhavnā pharī vareā, Tene nahīṅ paḍe dharamnī sūj
English meaning: O brother! (He) reads and hears Ginan but does not act (accordingly); that ignorant fool does not understand. The sins of his past life have returned; he could not understand religion.
Verse 3
Eji tenā kān sahī beherḍā, Te sūrat vohoṇā jīv; Je elam suṇe pāre nahīṅ, Te kem pāme behesht
English meaning: O brother! He possesses ears but is deaf; he is a man without hearing. Whoever listens to knowledge but does not act accordingly how will he obtain paradise?
Verse 4
Eji tenī āṅkh sahī paṇ āndhḷā, Ane gatmāṅhe milse nitonit; Ā jugnī māyā mīṭhḍī, Bhāi tisthi phariyā chint
English meaning: O brother! He possesses eyes but is blind; he will always mingle in the Jamat. O Brother! The love of the world is sweet; due to this his thoughts have diverted.
Verse 5
Eji gure diṭhāne sambhlāviyā, Pīr Shams kahe vichār; Jāṇī būjīne je bhūliyā, Te jāese dojakne darbār
English meaning: O brother! The spiritual g uide saw and described (or the spiritual guide has talked to those who see); Pir Shams (r.a.) advises thus: whoever is purposely oblivious will go to hell.
Verse 6
Eji ginān bhaṇe ne sāmbhle, Na mūke kapaṭ ne kūḍ; Te jāṇī būjīne dojake gayā, Phiṭ re mūrakh mūnḍh
English meaning: O brother! He reads and hears Ginan but does not shun fraudulence and lies. He purposely went to hell. O ignorant one! Fie on your ignorance. Vel Vaekji
Verse 7
Vel Vaekji Pir Shams Eji mānkhā dehī tūṅ pāmeo, Kuchh samar na lio sāth; Āvtaṇā tūṅ āveo, Ane jātāṅ te dohelī vāṭ
English meaning: O brother! You acquired the human form, but did not take any provisions with you. You have somehow arrived (but) the returning path is very arduous.
Verse 8
Eji vāṭ vikaṭ panth dūr hae, Kuchh phartāṅ na pāie pār; Sācho karī sāhebne sirevjo, To sāheb utāre pār
English meaning: O brother! The path is arduous and the destination is far away; you will obtain nothing by roaming about it. Understand the Lord as true and obey him then the Lord will take you across to the other shore.
Verse 9
Eji mānkhā janam dehī tūṅ pāmeo, Ane bhūlo tūṅ vārovār; Ginān bhaṇe suṇe ne pāre nahīṅ, Bhaṭh paḍeo teno avtār
English meaning: O brother! You obtained the human form but forgot repeatedly. You read and hear Ginan but do not act accordingly; fie upon his life.
Verse 10
Eji ginān bhaṇe suṇe sūdh ja pāie, Tame bhūlā ma paḍjo koi; Te Pīr Shams kahe tame sāmbhlo, Tāri radeh vichārī joe
English meaning: O brother! By reading (and) listening to Ginan understanding is obtained, none of you should be oblivious. Pir Shams (r.a.) says: listen, contemplate and look within your heart.
Verse 11
Eji ginān vichāro mārā munivaro; Ane ved vichārī joe; Satī jīv to pār langiā, Bhāi kapṭī na tariyā koi
English meaning: O My momins! Contemplate on Ginan. Contemplate upon the scriptures and see. The virtuous momins reached the other shore; O brother! No deceiver could reach the other shore.
Verse 12
Eji satī jīv to pār langeā, Jeṇe dil rākhī āpṇī pāk; Kapṭī jīv to dojake gayā, Tenī ved elammāṅhe sāṅkh
English meaning: O brother! The devoted momin reached the other shore who kept his heart pure. The deceiver went to hell; its signs are (given) in knowledge. Vel Vaekji
Verse 13
Vel Vaekji Eji sāchūṅ bolso to chhūṭsho, Elam boleā Shams Pīr; Āgal nathī jug pāṅchmo, Tame sunore moman vīr
English meaning: O brother! By speaking the truth you shall be saved; there is no fifth yuga (era); listen o momin brother.
Verse 14
Eji moman moman sab koi kahāve, Sab koi sūṇe ginān; Gure harf harf karī samjāveā, Toe na āvī sān
English meaning: O brother! Everybody calls himself a momin and everybody listens to Ginan. The spiritual guide has explained word by word yet (they) did not understand.
Verse 15
Eji hak kī roṭī khāie, To kuchhuk pāie pār; Gaer hak kī roṭī jo khāie, To āhār taesā oḍkār
English meaning: O brother! If you consume (from) lawful earnings then you will reach across. If you consume from unlawful earnings then a belch stinks of the food consumed (i.e. the effect will be accordingly).
Verse 16
Eji joine āhār ja kījie, Satī tūṅ sāchūṅ bol; Ginānni kūnchī lai karī, Tārā dilkā tālā khol
English meaning: O brother! Consume (your) food carefully; o momin! Speak the truth. Take the key of Ginan and open the lock of your heart.
Verse 17
Eji gure dilmā dīpak lāyā, Ne chāndrūṇā kiyā so nūr; Pāṅch vas karore munivaro, To sāheb dekhāḍūṅ hajūr
English meaning: O brother! The spiritual guide lighted a lamp in the heart and illuminated it with light. O momins! Control the five evils then I shall show Lord's presence (to you).
Verse 18
Eji satgur sāheb pās dekhāḍiyā, Tene pargaṭ sūje dharam; Jenā ghaṭmāṅhe sāheb vāpeā, Te dharamnū jāṇe maram
English meaning: O brother! To whoever the spiritual guide revealed the proximity of the Lord, he can clearly visualize the faith. In whose heart the Lord dwells completely, he knows the secret of faith. Vel Vaekji
Verse 19
Vel Vaekji Eji jaesā dūdhmāṅhe girat hae, Taesā tujmāṅhe prāṇ; Taesā tujmāṅhe sāṅiyāṅ hae, Ghaṭ ghaṭ vāso jāṇ
English meaning: O brother! As there is butter-oil in milk so there is a soul within you. In the same way the beloved is within you. In each heart is his place (or dwelling).
Verse 20
Eji jaesā talmāṅhe tel hae, Jem kāṭhmāṅhe agan; Taesā tujmāṅhe sāṅiyā hae, Ane mathe pargaṭ jāṇ
English meaning: O brother! Just as there is oil in the sesame seed and fire within the wood. In the same way the beloved is within you but he is manifest only when churned.
Verse 21
Eji jem dahīṅ dūdhmā girat ja pāie, Pīr Shams kahe dīnkī sāṅkh; Jo dehīmāṅhe kasṇī karo, To sāheb dekhāḍūṅ āṅkh
English meaning: O brother! As butter-oil is obtained from yogurt- milk, (so) Pir Shams (r.a.) reveals the sign of religion. If you will put your being on test then I will show the Lord in front of your own eyes.
Verse 22
Eji har kiriyā khetra ja kheḍiye, Māṅhe dasond sukritnū boie bīj; Jikar taṇā pāṇī dijīe, To sab kuchh nīpaj hove nīj
English meaning: O brother! Cultivate the field with the plough of deeds; sow the seeds of Dasond and Sukrit in it. Irrigate with the remembrance of the Name then every kind of crop will grow.
Verse 23
Eji je sāchā yārā momanā, Te to māṇak tol; Jeṇe satgur sāheb na oḷakhiyā, Te nar kāchā sīsā tol
English meaning: O brother! The true momin friends are like diamonds. Whoever does not recognize the true spiritual guide, he is like crude glass.
Verse 24
Eji jeṇe dharam liyā ne pāreā nahīṅ, Tenū dojakmāṅhe vās; Je sāchā yārā momanā, Te besse sāhebjīne pās
English meaning: O brother! Whoever adopted religion but did not act upon it, his place is in hell. The true momin friends will sit in proximity to the Lord. Vel Vaekji
Verse 25
Vel Vaekji Ane kharā dasondī jāṇ; Jeṇe hazrat pīr pichhāṇiyā, Te upar sāhebjīko pyār
English meaning: O brother! Whoever consulted the spiritual guide, acted accordingly and a re complete in Dasond; whoever recognized the reverend pir, the Lord loves them.
Verse 26
Eji dharam liyā to kiyā huā, Jo sāhebjīsūṅ na lāgā rang; Jem pāṇī māṅhe pathar bhayā, Toe na bhīnā ang
English meaning: O brother! Of what use is it if one acquired religion but did not adopt the ways of the Lord? It is like a stone in water yet its surface does not get wet.
Verse 27
Eji vaṇ bhīnā te pathar sarīkhā, Jeṇe na pichhāṇiyā shāhā ne pīr; Ginānmāṅhe aesā bhījīe, Jem māṭīmāṅhe nīr
English meaning: O brother! Whoever is not moistened is like a stone; he did not recognize the Imam and the Pir. Saturate yourself in Ginan just as water dissolved in soil.
Verse 28
Eji jem māṭīmāṅhe nīr ja dījīe, Māṅhe paḍe ne malī jāe; Tem sāchā yārā momanā, Ginān suṇīne galī jāe
English meaning: O brother! Just as when water added to soil, it dissolves immediately. In the same way the true momin friends melt upon listening to Ginan.
Verse 29
Eji moman te je sāchā kahīe, Na kare kapaṭ na kūḍ; Sat shikhāmaṇ chint dhare, To pāp jāe sarve dūr
English meaning: O brother! A momin is he who is true; who is not attached to fraudulence and lies. (He) keeps the true advice in his mind then all sins are removed.
Verse 30
Eji ginān suṇo mārā munivaro, Ma karjo duniyānī nindā kāṇ; Bhādarve pāṇī parvareā, Pachhe jeṭh malse nirvāṇ
English meaning: O My momin brother! Listen to Ginan, do not gossip of or care about the world. The rains pour in the month of µBhādo¶ and the crop is obtained in the month of µJeṭh¶.

English meaning: O brother! Pir Shams (r.a.) says the Ginan, o momins! Listen properly. Obey the Lord with true faith then you will reach the other shore. Vel Vaekji
