Verse 1

jī farmān karī narjī boliyāH Wame sāmbh܃o Pīr Shams vāt; Tame jāo āj jamāWmāH ane parkho teonā īmān

English meaning: O brother! Mawla made a Farman and said͗ >isten O Pir Shams! Go to the :amat today anT WesW their faith.

Verse 2

jī tāre Pīr Shams boliyāH shāhājī sāmbh܃o morī vāt; Tame je farmāvo te māngieH We māngsūṅ gaW jamāt pās

English meaning: O brother! Then Pir Shams (ra) entreated͗ O Mawla, >isten to me! Whatever you say we will demand, we will demand from the :amat.

Verse 3

jī kāṭhā We ghaūṅ-ni māngjo roṭlīH ane māngjo māṇas māṅs; Je māṇas māṅs āpseH We pāmse vaikunṭh vās

English meaning: O brother! (Mawla said͗) emand bread of red hard wheat and human flesh. Whoever will offer hisͬher flesh will obtain a status in heaven.

Verse 4

jī tāre We Pīr Shams chāliyāH āviyā nṅch MulWānmāṅe; Tiyāṅ gaW jumlājī āvī pāe lāgā, gurjī māngo tamārī sīkh

English meaning: O brother! Then Pir Shams (ra) departed and arrived in hch Multan. The whole :amat touched his feet and reƋuested to ask for his farewell gift.

Verse 5

jī sīkh sampat hoe tevī ja āpjo, ane pā܃o te āpṇā man; Paṇ bhojaṇ karo to āsīs TaieH va܃ī Taie We Til āsīs

English meaning: O brother! (He said) offer your gift as per your capacity and follow what your heart says. However, if you offer food (to me) then / will bless you and blessings will be from my heart.

Verse 6

jī tāre Pīr Shams boliyāH Wame sāmbh܃o gat jamāt; Eṭlo amāro niyam chhe, pachhī Taie Til āsīs

English meaning: O brother! Then Pir Shams (ra) said͗ O :amat listen! This much is our custom; after that / will bless from my heart.

Verse 7

jī kāṭhā We ghaūṅ-ni roṭlīH pāse joie te māṇas māṅs; Je māṇas māṅs āpseH We pāmse vaikunṭh vās

English meaning: O brother! (He said͗ / want) bread made of red hard wheat and human flesh with it. Whoever will offer his own flesh will acƋuire a status in heaven.

Verse 8

jī tāre jumlājī jai vāt vichāri, koṇ māṇas āpse potānū māṅs; Pīr Shams saW chhoḍāvse, koṇ jāese We pīrne pās

English meaning: O brother! Then the :amat went and pondered as to who would offer his own flesh͍ Pir Shams (ra) will give salvation (or take our life). Who will go to the Pir͍

Verse 9

jī Pīr Shams to tasbīh lai beṭhāH sāheb rākhjo hamārī lāj; SāW Tivasno rojo rākhiyo, ane koī na āve pīrne pās

English meaning: O brother! Pir Shams (ra) sat down with a rosary (and prayed) O Mawla! Protect my honor. (He) fasted for seven days but nobody came to the Pir.

Verse 10

jī ek andho abhyāgaW khanāmāṅe beṭho, te āviyo pīrne pās; Sonā kaṭārī gurjī hāthe lio, ane bharkho amāro māṅs

English meaning: O brother! A blind beggar was sitting in the :amatkhana, he came to the Pir (and entreated that) O Pir! Take a golden dagger in your hand and eat my flesh.

Verse 11

jī Wame kahīyūṅ We ame bharakhiyūṅ HAne dhan ghaḍī ne dhan rāW; Je Tine Wū sirajyo, te moṭā Wamārā bhāg

English meaning: O brother! (Pir Shams (ra) said͗) You have said, so it is as if / have eaten. Fortunate is the moment of the day you were born and that night too. You are very fortunate.

Verse 12

jī tāre Kasam Shāhā āpe āviyāH āvī mānḍhīya ghaṭpāṭ; Eūrnā kancholā hāthe āliyāH Pīr Shams chāliyā Wene sāth

English meaning: O brother! At that time /mam Kassim Shah (͚alyhis salam) came in person and upon arriving set up the ritual of ghaܩpāܩ. Offered a bowl of nūr with his own hands. Pir Shams (ra) walked along with him.

Verse 13

jī tāre Pīr Shams boliyā, narjī sāmbh܃o morī vāt; k andho abhyāgat huvo, tene āljo nūr /lāhī

English meaning: O brother! Then Pir Shams (ra) entreated O Mawla! >isten to my reƋuest! There is a blind beggar, grant him the nūr of Allah.

Verse 14

jī ek andho abhyāgat huvo, tene āljo nūr /lāhī; Eūrnā kancholā We pī gayo, tene sujiyā nave nanT

English meaning: O brother! (Then Pir Shams (ra) entreated that) there is a blind beggar, grant him the nūr of Allah. He partook the bowl of nūr and all nine treasures became visible to him (his eyesight was restored).

Verse 15

jī tāre Pīr Shams boliyāH anThā sāmbh܃o mori vāt; Tame jāo gaW jamātmaH have Whai chhe hālaṇ velā

English meaning: O brother! Then Pir Shams (ra) said͗ O blind one! >isten to what / say! Go to the :amat (and tell them that) the time of our departure has now come.

Verse 16

jī tāre te andho abhyāgaW uṭhīyo, te āviyo gaW jamātmāṅe; Have sanTūk lai sābTī karo, pīrne Whai chhe hālaṇ velā

English meaning: O brother! Then that blind beggar got up and came in the :amat (and said͗) now geW a caskeW anT make preparations, the time has come for the Pir͛s departure.

Verse 17

jī jumlejīe tāre vāt vichāriH anThā kyā te srevīya pīr; Kāle bhīWe bhaṭkāto hato, hamṇā chāle chhe jamīn aThīr

English meaning: O brother! Then the :amat discussed amongst themselves as to what service the blind beggar has offered to the Pir͍ hntil yesterday he was banging into pillars and now he is walking as if above the ground.

Verse 18

jī ame Pīr Shams sreviyāH ane pīThā nūr /lāhī; Je māṇas māṅs āpseH We pām se vaikunṭh vās

English meaning: O brother! (He said) / served Pir Shams (ra) and partook of Allah͛s nūr. The person who will offer his flesh will obtain a status in heaven.

Verse 19

jī tāre jumlejīe vāt vichārīH We āviyā pīrjīne pās; Sonā kaṭārī gurjī hāthe līo, ane bharkho amāro māṅs

English meaning: O brother! Then the :amat discussed amongst themselves, came to the Pir and said͗ take a golden dagger in your hand and eat our flesh.

Verse 20

jī velā haWī te to vahī gaiH koṇ bharkhe te māṇasnū māṅs; Have sanTūk laine sābTī karo, pīrne Whai chhe hālaṇ velā

English meaning: O brother! (Pir Shams (ra) said͗) The time has now passed, (by the way) who eats human flesh͍ Eow get a casket and make preparations, the time has come for my departure.

Verse 21

jī tāre jumlojī sarve rovāne lāgā, ane rūve re nar ne nār; Zuṭho pīr iyāṅthī darge jāeseH We phūṭā āpṇā nasīb

English meaning: O brother! Then the whole :amat started weeping, men and women wept. The spiritual guide will go to the court in annoyance, we are the unfortunate ones.

Verse 22

jī tāre Pīr Shams boliyāH Wame sāmbh܃o gat jamāt; Have chhelo javāb Wamne mukāme Tesūṅ H Have Whai chhe hālaṇ velā

English meaning: O brother! Then Pir Shams (ra) said͗ O :amat! >isten! / will give you the last answer upon reaching the graveyard. The departure time has now come.

Verse 23

jī vaisākh mahīnū ne tārikh satarmī, ane bharespatvārnū Tin; Te Tine pīre jomū sapāriyo, te sapāriyo nṅch MulWānmāṅe

English meaning: O brother! (/t was) Thursday, the ϭϳWh of aisākh month. The Pir passed away on this day, he passed away in hch Multan.

Verse 24

jī satarso pīrna kānThī WhayāH We āviyā june mukām; Janājo lai mukāme rākhiyo, pīrjī āpjo chhelo javāb

English meaning: O brother! ϭϳϬϬ people attended the Pir͛s funeral and reached the old place (graveyard). Put the bier at the place. (The :amat reƋuested)͗ O Pir! Please give the last answer.

Verse 25

jī tāre Pīr Shams boliyāH Wame sāmbh܃o gat jamāt; Bār bār mahīne ājnū rojo rākhjo, to pāmso vaikunṭh vās

English meaning: O brother! Then Pir Shams (ra) said͗ >isten O :amat! Observe fast on this day every year then you will obtain a status in heaven.

Verse 26

jī te rojo rākhjo nar ne nār, ane rākhjo te nānā bā܃; B ār mahīne rojo rākhjo, to pāmso vaikunṭh vās

English meaning: O brother! (Pir Shams (ra) said)͗ All men, women and children should observe this fast. Observe this fast every year then you will obtain a status in heaven.

Verse 27

jī Pīr Shams ginān ja boliyāH Wame sāmbh܃o gat jamāt; To amāro sarāp Wamne nahīṅ lāgeH Wame pāmso vaikunṭh vās

English meaning: O brother! Then Pir Shams (ra) said the Ginān. O :amat! >isten to it. Then my displeasure will not harm you, and you will obtain a status in heaven.
