Verse 1

Gur āpanḍelā, page lāgīmanāvo

English meaning: Fall at the feet of your spiritual guide and propitiate (him).

Kal sandhīaḍelā, kuchh lekhālikhāvo

English meaning: The time of tomorrow is about to come; earn something.

Verse 3

Lekhālikh dhaṇīelā, mat paḍore kulekhe

English meaning: The Lord is the writer of the account; do not indulge in a wrong account.

Verse 4

Sāmīāpe bhan ghaḍelā, sāheb āpohīvekhe

English meaning: The Lord Himself is the One Who breaks and the One Who makes. The Lord Himself is the One Who sees.

Murakh sanch dharelā, kahe vasat merīmerī

English meaning: The foolish accumulates; says these things are mine.

Verse 6

Sāna hove terīaḍelā, vasat sāheb kerī

English meaning: They are absolutely not yours. Those things belong to the Lord.

Sāna hove teri aḍelā, bhāībandhav benī

English meaning: Brothers, sisters and relatives are also not yours.

Sāna hove teri aḍHOā, ghar garath maherī

English meaning: House, wealth and wife are also not yours.

Sāna hove teri aḍHOā, jīv chalte vār

English meaning: At the time of the departure of the soul nothing will be yours.

Sāḍātraṇhathelā, bandāhae bhoṅte rī

English meaning: O man! Only three and a half span of land is yours.

Verse 11

Trāmbedīmor ghaḍelā, jug rāndhe so chīṇā

English meaning: A pestle of copper will be made and the whole world will be threshed like grains.

Ek puḍchhaḍkarīang ukhḍelā, jenāmanmāṅhe kīnā

English meaning: He who breeds malice in his heart, his body will be threshed and one layer will be torn asunder.

Do puḍchhaḍkarīang ukhḍelā, jeṇe chint na āṇiyā

English meaning: He who did not think of the Lord, his body will be threshed and two layers will be torn asunder.

Verse 14

Tin puḍchhaḍ karī ang ukhḍelā, jeke kiriādāhīṇā

English meaning: Those who are without good deeds or are imperfect in their deeds, their bodies will be threshed and three layers will be torn asunder.

Cho puḍchhaḍ karī ang ukhḍelā, jeke jānībhulāṇā

English meaning: Those who purposefully fell in oblivion, their bodies will be threshed and four layers will be torn asunder.

Tandhāvaṭlaḍielā, e pinje so ṭāṇe

English meaning: That deer grazes stealthily and plunders the field.

Chorīchare na ḍare moholā, rakhvālāna mane

English meaning: That deer grazes stealthily and fearlessly, and does not obey the keeper.

Rayaṇviyāṇīaḍelā, trape vāḍījo bhane

English meaning: O brother! As soon as the night is over, he breaks the fence, takes a leap and runs away.

E mālībāg sirevo, khaḍe shāh pukāre

English meaning: The Lord is calling out, O gardener! Take care of your garden.

Hae koi eso bhayolā, jo man miragne māre

English meaning: Is there anyone who kills the deer-like baser self?

Kiskīdhanak chaḍelā, kiskāpanchbāṇ

English meaning: Whose bow will you string and whose arrow will you take?

Satkīdhanak chaḍelā, gurkāpanchbāṇ

English meaning: String the bow of truth and take the arrow of the spiritual master.

Mirag mārīliolā, koi sughaḍsujāṇ

English meaning: Is there anyone wise and clever who will kill this deer?
