Kan Bandho Maya Puravse

Verse 1

Kāṅ bāndho māyā pūravse ho kāyā pūr, E man dhiāvantā vāro

Verse 2

Tame māndal ma haḍo pakhvāj savāro, Bhītar kūḍī rachāvo

English meaning: O brother! Do not sound the drums and tumbrels; you are full of evil inside.

Verse 3

Tame thoḍāke kāraṇ bahot ma hāro, Em jāṇī āp ṭhagāvo

English meaning: O brother! Do not sacrifice more for less. You are knowingly cheating yourself.

Verse 4

Tame jīvke kāraṇjagḍā jagḍo, E dūje panch rahāvo

English meaning: O brother! You quarrel for the sake of yourself and then make others settle your disputes.

Verse 5

Paḍe gāfal sūtā jāge jo nāhi, Murakh na lādhā chevo

English meaning: O brother! The oblivious are sleeping, (they) do not wake up; such fools are not conscious.

Verse 6

Tame jīvnā sovnā ek karī jāṇo, Ye jag em hī huvā

English meaning: O brother! Consider living and sleeping as same. This world goes on like this.

Verse 7

Jīv pinḍ ye chhūṭe nāhi, Ye jag em hī huvā

English meaning: O brother! Their souls did not achieve freedom from the body. This world goes on like this.

Verse 8

Tame dīnsūṅ sevo sevore bhāī, Islām Shāh nām bhaṇāyā

English meaning: O brother! Follow the religion, which is manifest in the name of Imam Islam Shah (a.s.)

Verse 9

Pīr Sadardīn em boliyā, Srevo to dīn sujānā

English meaning: O brother! Pir Sadardin (r.a.) says: obey the Lord, then the understanding of religion will follow.
