lobh savrāthe juge vāeo Sayyad Imam Shah (ra) (Selected verses) Ejīlobh savrāthe juge vāeo, ane jūṭhāne sukh na thāe; Jāre kaṭak chaḍse kālnū, tāre ghar ghar makān melāe
English meaning: O brother! The world passed i n avarice and selfishness; the liars will not attain happiness. When the army of death will come then household, family, everything will be forsaken.
Ejīkāl krodhno temāṅev ās chhe, te to māṅe doḍā bahūkare; Te sāthe māyāmoho ne trasnā, ane kapaṭto māṅe phare
English meaning: O brother! Anger has made a dw elling within him and it is very active inside. With it are illusion, love for world and avarice; and deceit is already rambling inside.
Ejīte sāthe setān sābdo, te to rājāṇījāi dābe sudh; Tiyāṅ hīrāratan pelāl ū te, pachhe nav khanḍmāṅhe pāḍe lūt
English meaning: O brother! Satan also accompani es it, and it takes control of the king’s intellect. At first, he loots diamonds and jewels, and then plunders the whole world.
Ejījāre seher lūṭeo ne thayo chhe khālī, tiyāṅ satīlok na bese koī; Tiyāṅbumb vineāseher lūṭeo, tāre sat melīnāse sab koī
English meaning: O brother! When the city is plundered and vacated, then no believer will live there. (They) looted the city silently; then everyone abandoned the truth and ran away.
Ejī tame sat sīchīne dharam karo, to dharam rakhvālo hoe; Ʈmānamar chhe re koṭaḍī, temāṅe chor na pese koe
English meaning: O brother! Irrigate with tru th and act upon religion then religion will be your guard. Iman (faith) is that eternal abode in which no thief can enter.
Ejīhave chintmāṅe chetīne fikar āṇīe, bhāi jīkar karo din rāt; Tāre rāt andhārīmāṅe chor na pese, to sās usāse sāheb pās
English meaning: O brother! Be vigilant in your heart now and remain concerned; continue remembering day and night, then the thief will not enter in the darkness of night and the Lord will be with you in every breath.
Ejīem rāt divas shāhāsambhāriye, tame munivar thāo husiyār; Ā chhelīre nāv kaljugnī, temāṅe īmānīutarse pār
English meaning: O brother! Remember the Lord like this day and night (and) be vi gilant. This is the last boat of Kaliyuga; in this the faithful will reach the shore
Ejī evīvikhḍīveḷā āvse, tame fikare thāo ghaṇūhusiyār; Tiyāṅdev dāṇavnūhoese paṭuntaro, āp apṇī kāraṇīutāro pār
English meaning: O brother! Such an arduous time will come, be very vigilant in your thoughts. At that time the world and believers will be differentiated. Reach the shore with your own earnings.
Ejīek gur ne ek panth chhe, sab koīdhiyāvantāek ja rāhe; Jyāre satgur hukam farmāvse, te thī be īmānībhāgījāe
English meaning: O brother! Then there will be one spiritual guide and one path and everyone will be following one path. When the spiritual guide will command the faithless will run away.
Ejīteṇe gurnāginān māneān a h ī ṅ, te thayā chhe be īmānī; Te to āp murādākaram bolse, jeṇe pīdhūmadhnūpāṇī
English meaning: O brother! They did not accept the knowledge of spiritual guide and became faithless. They followed their own desires; their deeds will speak who have partaken of alcohol.
Ejībhāi tūchār jugmāṅe āvīyo, paṇgurnūkahiyūṅnav karīyo sār; Bhaṇe Sayyad Imam Shaha suṇo munivaro, Te jīvnarage jāse nirdhār
English meaning: O brother! You came in the four eras but did not act according to the words of the spiritual guide. Sayyad Imam Shah (ra) says: Listen O believers! They will surely go to hell.
