Biography
Sayyid Imam Begum, also remembered as Bibi Tahira, was a celebrated woman composer and teacher whose Ginans unite musical refinement with yearning for the Divine. Born near Kera in Kutch, she later lived in Bombay and travelled among communities in Kutch, Sindh, and Karachi. Tradition places her death in Karachi in 1866, after a long life of devotional teaching.
